Two reflection photos from this week. One is in the bathroom mirror. The other, I’m looking into an orange grad that’s on a Nikon D5100 on a tripod. You’re seeing my reflection in the filter.

My quest to get my portraiture up to speed continues. Here’s a quick snap of Chuckyloops at the Catalyst Surf Shop in San Clemente.

I got a chance to test the Hasselblad H4D-40. Took about 20 exposures, didn’t spend a lot of time futzing with the lighting, so it could be much better. Camera was F11, 100mm lens, 100 ISO, Broncolor strobes. Top image is straight out of the camera, bottom image has some light retouching in Aperture 3.

What makes Jon Stark tick? Maybe it’s his amazing family and five beautiful children. Or maybe it’s his passion for writing and recording music. Maybe it’s his progressive approach to corporate filmmaking in Omaha. Maybe it’s his close associate with Apple and being the face of Apple’s Guided Tours for 5 product campaigns. Maybe it’s his passion for storytelling. What make’s Jon Stark tick? Let’s find out, listen to him talk.

Hurricane Irene tore through the eastern seaboard. I rode out the storm in the Adirondacks. A few hours after the rain started, the power went out. We were without power until I left, and as far as I know, they are still without power now. That makes about 36 or more hours, no lights, phones, etc.

I’m in Boston now starting the second leg of the trip. On the way across I focused on making photo galleries of the local scenery and people. On the way back, I’ll be interviewing filmmakers in Boston, NYC, Chicago, Omaha, and Denver. Look for those videos to begin appearing tomorrow evening or wednesday.
